Happy International Women’s Day!  This year’s theme, “Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress,” underscores the importance of empowering women for greater diversity in opinion, perspective, and representation, ultimately leading to enhanced progress.  Investing in women not only fosters inclusivity but also promotes innovation and growth.

A Legacy of Strength

I was fortunate to be raised among strong women, including my grandmother who built a knitting factory in the 1950s in Rangoon, Burma.  Her resilience and determination inspired my family, with my mother and aunt following in her entrepreneurial and leadership footsteps.  Growing up surrounded by these examples, I learned the importance of investing in oneself and others.

Today, my sisters and I are professionals in our respective fields, striving to set positive examples for our daughters, encouraging them to pursue their passions and lead with confidence.  Organizations like  Miss CEO and Girls, Inc. have played instrumental roles in empowering young women to become leaders.  Thanks to the influence of these organizations and the strong women in her life, my daughter is now pursuing her passions as a freshman at Pepperdine University.

Investing in Women at TCDI

As a former Managing Editor of Cardo Law School Women’s Law Journal, advocating for women’s issues remains close to my heart.  This dedication influences my choice to align with companies that share my values, such as my current employer, a certified-minority owned company where 50% of the leadership is women.

At TCDI, I am proud to support initiatives like our Military Spouses Managed Review Program, which provides flexible career opportunities for attorneys who are spouses of the United States military, addressing the challenges they face due to constant redeployment.  By investing in women and promoting inclusivity, we can accelerate progress and create a more equitable society for all.

TCDI’s commitment to diversity and inclusivity, coupled with its dedication to empowering women, makes me proud to be part of this organization.  On this International Women’s Day, let us celebrate the remarkable women who have shaped our lives and continue to inspire us.
